Much Better | Chapter 5 | I'm So Sorry.
Joe's POV;
"Joe?....Joe!...JOSEPH!"
"AAAH!", I fell of the bed, then stood up quickly, rubbing my eyes, before they landed on Demi.
She was wearing her dress that she wore for her date. And her make up was just like it was before she left.
But, didn't she cry? Her mascara getting ruined?
Wait....
What the hell happened?
"Demi?", I asked, confused.
"Yeah?", she answered, looking at me strangly.
I took a breath, "When did I fall asleep?"
She furrowed her eyebrows, "Um...I don't know. I just got home from my date with Taylor, and you were asleep on my bed. Like usual, I would have let you sleep in peace, but you kinda took the whole bed.....", she giggled.
I narrowed my eyes.
So....it was a dream?
Does that mean she..doesn't still love me?
"Joe? Are you okay? You seem a little tense.", Demi whispered, stepping closer to me.
I shook my head, "No, I'm fine. Just need to lie down", I lied, laying back down on her bed.
I heard a drawer open and I knew she was taking out her Pj's.
"Joe, can you please help me unzip my dress?", I heard Demi say from her closet.
"Sure," I got up and went over to her, turning her around b her waist, so her back was facing me. She pulled her hair up so I could see the zipper.
I dragged it all the way down, and the dress fell from her perfectly curved body.
I've seen her without anything on before, but she still seemed to amaze me.
"Thanks, Joe." She said, and I went back to bed. I closed my eyes, but stayed awake. I heard the bathroom door open and close, then water running.
She was gonna take a shower, so I just layed there, when I had a flashback of our break up.
//Flashback//
Joe's POV;
I walked into her room, nervous. How do you break up with your best friend after 2 years of dating?
She was sitting on her bed, biting the end of the pen she was holding while staring intensly at the mathbook infront of her. I doubt she heard me come in.
I took the book and closed it, then looked at her. She looked up at me and smiled, leaning over to kiss me, but I felt so guitly about what I was going to do that I turned my head, and her lips landed on my cheek.
When she pulled away I saw hurt and confusion. I sighed, this was gonna be harder then I thought.
"I- I have to um, I have to..", I stuttered.
She furrowed her eyebrows, "You have to, what, Joe?", she asked, her voice giving away a slight sound of fear.
I took a deep breath, "Dem, this isn't gonna be easy for me to say, and for you to hear. But", I paused, looking at her, going straight for it, "I want to break up."
I stared at her as her face turned into shock. Her mouth opening slightly and her eyes widening and watering.
I looked down, " I think I might love Camilla." I forced out, not daring to look up at her.
I heard a sigh, so I looked up. Demi took my hand and stroked it, while giving me a small smile.
"I understand. Go with her, Joe. You'll still be my best friend", she whispered.
I frowned. How can she be so calm about this?
I thought she loved me.
"Are you sure? I mean, I'd feel so much better if you'd scream at me, yell at me, or slap me.", I tried. I was telling the truth. I'd rather have her slapping me senseless then having her calm about this, making me even more guilty.
She shook her head, her eyes sad, but her smile bright, "If she's what makes you happy, then go with her. I can't stop you from being happy, Joe. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I did." She explained.
"And you promise that our friendship wont change?" I asked, making sure.
"I promise. I don't wanna lose you, Joe. We've been best friends longer then we've been a couple", she said.
I leaned down and kissed her forehead, then pulled away, leaning my forehead against hers, "I'm so sorry, Dem," I whispered, staring into her eyes.
She didn't say anything, except stand up and pull me up with her. She walked over to the door, and then smiled at me.
"Go.", was all she said.
I walked over to her, giving her a bear hug, "Thank you for being so amazing.", I whispered in her ear before walking out.
I heard the door close, then I thud, then sobbing.
I looked down, feeling so guilty for what I did.
She's been nothing but understanding about this.
I felt like a heartless jerk.
I was one.
For breaking up with my best friend.
Who did nothing wrong.
I know I'm gonna regret this someday.
I just know it.
